Lack of Comfort at the Inn

I was staying at a Comfort Inn in Milwaukee the other day, where, by the way there is an incredible building that is an art museaum and is well worth a trip to the city.

Anyway, I was amazed by how un-accomodating it was to seniors, and so also, in some ways probably to people with disabilities.

The lighting in the room was quite poor if you needed to read something. The bathtub had no anti-skid things in it. The fridge was low, making you bend severely to be able to get at it. The directional signage was very small. The breakfast room was not accomodating to anyone who needs a mobility assistance device beyond a cane.

Much of this is not unique to this Comfort Inn, it is true of other hotels also, but it was the number of things that needed some modifications and thought that struck me. Older people travelling is a population that is increasing, and will continue to do so. It is surprising when a property, especially one that is recently renovated as apparently this was, do not take that into account.
